Engineer AWUSA, BENNETH OTU

He was born in Kaduna on 21 November 1977. He graduated from the University of Calabar with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 1999, and a higher postgraduate degree in Natural Products from the Federal University of Technology Owerri in 2003.

In addition to a first-class honours degree in Civil Engineering from Cross River University of Technology and a higher degree in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Uyo. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in Management from Cross River University of Technology Calabar in 2018, a Certificate in Procurement from the University of Lagos, Executive Diploma in Disaster Management. He is currently on his research work for the award of PhD in Engineering Geology & Hydrogeology, at the University of Calabar in the Department of Geology. 

Engineer Awusa has experience in telecommunications, oil and gas, publishing, pharmaceutical, power plant construction,  power generation, airport construction, harbour construction, shoreline/coastline armouring and consultancy services. 

He is the immediate past Director of the Project and Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Cross River State Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy Calabar. Currently working with the Ministry of International Donor Coordination as Director of Monitoring & Evaluation. He is also a third-party consultant to UNICEF, USAID, EU for water and sanitation projects in South East and Northern Nigeria and a geotechnical consultant and material scientist for standard practice construction company and Premaz consult in Cross River State erosion and watershed project NEWMAP Calabar. 

A Registered Engineer (COREN), a Member Nigeria Society of Engineers, a Fellow Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria, a Fellow Institute of Oil and Gas Research and Hydrocarbon Studies, a Member Nigeria Institution of Safety Engineers, a Member of the Nigerian Institution of Chartered Power Engineers, Member Nigeria Institution of Geotechnical Engineers, Member Nigeria Institution of Civil Engineers, full Member Environment and risk management institute, Associate of Certified Institute of shipping in Nigeria, Member, International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, Member, Nigerian Institute of Water Engineers. First Technical Secretary Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers and Technical Secretary Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers Cross River State Chapter and now National Financial Secretary Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers.

Awusa is married to the love of his life Mrs. Victoria Awusa and blessed with four(4) sons, a practising Catholic by faith and enjoys reading, listening to music and fishing in his spare time.
